Also at the premiere was her Engilsh co-star Sally Hawkins, who plays her sister in the movie, which is directed by Woody Allen.
Speaking about the Oscar buzz surrounding her performance in the movie, Cate told the Sydney Daily Telegraph recently: 'It's nice but what month are we in? That's shorthand for people saying they liked the character.'
The film, Allen's 44th, stars Cate as a New York socialite Jasmine, who suffers a nervous breakdown and goes to live with her sister Ginger (Hawkins).

Cate Blanchett never disappoints on the red carpet. The Australian actress always pushes the fashion boundaries, and tonight was no different.

Attending the London premiere of her latest film, Blue Jasmine, the statuesque star dazzled on the red carpet in a couture gown by French fashion house Givenchy.

Whilst few of us have much use for a couture gown - or indeed the money to buy one - we can all take inspiration from Cate's daring look.

Caped dresses such as this are having a bit of a fashion moment, and are a sure-fire hit for anyone looking for a show-stopping outfit.

Alec Baldwin plays Cate's husband Hal, with Bobby Cannavale and Louis CK also amongst the cast.
Speaking about working with Woody for the first time, she said: 'It's a strange thing meeting one of your heroes, but he was fantastic.
'It exceeded my expectations. If he doesn't like something he says so and if he does like it he moves on. He's very direct.'

Critics are always predicting a slew of accolades for the actress's performance when the awards season kicks off in January.
Cate won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for The Aviator in 2004, but has been nominated a further four times, including two nods in the same year.
Blue Jasmine is on in US cinemas now and will be released in UK on September 27.
